Additional Notes:

As stated above, this album is the fourth of a six volume series titled Akira Ifukube Unreleased Film Music Complete Works. The volumes in this series consist of:

Akira Ifukube Unreleased Film Music Complete Works · Daiei Edition: Zatoichi Series/Nemuri Kyoshiro Series (VPCD-81186)
Akira Ifukube Unreleased Film Music Complete Works · Shochiku Edition: Oh Wolf, Slay the Setting Sun (VPCD-81187)
Akira Ifukube Unreleased Film Music Complete Works · Toei Edition: Shinran/Thirteen Assassins (VPCD-81188)
Akira Ifukube Unreleased Film Music Complete Works · Nikkatsu Edition: The Burmese Harp/Scoundrels of the Sea (VPCD-81189)
Akira Ifukube Unreleased Film Music Complete Works · Iwanami Films Edition: Sakuma Dam Trilogy (VPCD-81190)
Akira Ifukube Unreleased Film Music Complete Works · Seiji Fujishiro Shadow Puppet Play: The Humpbacked Pony (VPCD-81191)

The series has been occasionally listed as the Film Composer Selection series at some websites (I myself have been guilty of this). However, this isn't entirely accurate as the Film Composer Selection series spans across a sizable number of VAP's releases.

"Zatoichi's Fighting Journey" (1963) is also known as "Zatoichi on the Road".
"Zatoichi Nidan-giri" (1965) is also known as "Zatoichi's Revenge".
"Zatoichi's Journey in Hell" (1965) is also known as "Zatoichi and the Chess Expert".
"Zatoichi Hears a Song" (1966) is also known as "Zatoichi's Vengeance".
"New Tale of Zatoichi · Blood Festival of Kasama" (1973) is also known as "Zatoichi's Conspiracy".
"Great Sword Fight: The Serpent" (1966) is also known as "The Betrayal".
"Nemuri Kyoshiro Tajo-ken" (1966) is known as "Sleepy Eyes of Death: Mask of the Princess".
"Nemuri Kyoshiro Burai-ken" (1966) is also known as "Sleepy Eyes of Death: Sword of Villainy".
"The Life of Wild Matsu" (1965) is also known as "The Life of Matsu the Untamed".
"Shinobi no Mono: Saizo Kirigakure" (1964) is also known as "Shinobi no Mono 4: Siege".

The cue number for track 6 should be M-X.
The cue number for track 8 should be DB TOP A.

I don't know why music from "Zatoichi's Conspiracy" is included on this album, as the film wasn't produced nor distributed by Daiei. Also, the track list incorrectly lists the the year of film's release as 1971. I corrected this for both the Japanese and English translated track lists.
