Description:

Reissue (premiere as a stand-alone release) of the score to Ishiro Honda's "Latitude 0 Great Military Battle" (07/26/1969 [Japan], 12/04/1970 [U.S.]). The ninth volume of Futureland's twelve volume Toho Monster Film Selection series. Bonus tracks include outtakes, edits made for both the U.S. and Japanese versions, sound effects, audio from the film's trailer and the drama EP. Music composed by Akira Ifukube. All music is in mono except for track 52, which is in stereo.

Additional Notes:

The film's U.S. title is "Latitude Zero". The Japanese title can also be translated as "Latitude Zero Great Military Battle". This is a rare case where the U.S. version is the original version.

As stated above, this album is the ninth volume of twelve in Futureland's Toho Monster Film Selection series, released in 1996 and 1997. The series includes:

With the exception of volume 10, the series is in chronological order by film release date. All scores in the series are composed by Akira Ifukube, except for volume 12, which is composed by Masaru Sato.

The retail price listed is the original price when the album was in-print, though adjusted for the recently implemented 10% consumption tax.

The album presentation reflects the Japanese version of the film, which is why cues M21 and M15 are placed where they are and why tracks 7, 14 and 16 are listed as unused (track 5 is unused in both U.S. and Japanese versions of the film. Getting back to M21 and M15, M21 was actually edited to become M19A (track 39) for the Japanese version. Also in the Japanese version, M15 was used as M31, which is why it's placed were it is. In the U.S. version, the cue is used as both M13A and M15. In fact, the cue sheets list M15 as also being used as M13A and M31.

The spelling for "Mackenzie", "Malik" and "Lucrecia" varies depending on the source. The spelling for the names I used for the English translated track list come from Toho Music Corporation's release of the score (the track list for the first disc is presented in both English and Japanese), which are my preferred spellings for the names.

The score was recorded on March 19, 1969.
