Remastered reissue of the score to Ishiro Honda's "Giant Monster Varan" (10/14/1958). Disc 1 features the score for the theatrical release of the film and disc 2 features the score for the original unaired television version. Both discs include outtakes as bonus materials, with disc 2 including sound effects. Music composed by Akira Ifukube. All music is in mono.

Additional Notes:
The film is known as "Varan, the Unbelievable". Also, the film's Japanese title has also been translated as "Great Monster Varan".
One of the cues from the television score, TV-8, is actually a combination of TV-8 and TV-9. Since the cues were performed as a single piece, it was only credited as TV-8. Additionally, TV-1 was treated as TV-10 (TV-10 Treatment) for the second part's main title.
M6 from the theatrical score was repeated later in the film as M8 (M8 Treatment).
Four cues from the television score were used in the theatrical version of the film. These cues are:
TV-7, treated as M9 (M9 Treatment).
TV-8, treated as M10 (M10 Treatment).
TV-13, treated as M17 (M17 Treatment).
TV-15T2, treated as M19 (M19 Treatment).
The score for the television version was recorded on August 27, 1958, with the sound effects for Varan's cries being recorded on August 29, 1958. The score for the theatrical version (excluding the cues recorded for the television version) was recorded on October 4, 1958.
