Description:

Premiere release of the score to Yoshimitsu Banno's "Godzilla vs. Hedorah" (07/24/1971). The eleventh volume of Futureland's twenty volume Godzilla Complete Works Collection series. Also included are karaoke versions of the songs as well as the record single. Music composed by Riichiro Manabe. All music is in mono except for tracks 59 and 60, which are in stereo.

Additional Notes:

The film was originally released in the U.S. as "Godzilla vs. the Smog Monster", but has since become to be known as "Godzlla vs. Hedorah", which is the film's original Japanese title.

The retail price listed is the original price when the album was in-print, though adjusted for the recently implemented 10% consumption tax.

I want to point out that the cue numbers for the PS (Pre-score) cues go a bit overboard with the inclusion of "MIX". The cue numbers for tracks 30 and 32 should PS103 and PS104 respectively. There is a PS104MIX (incorrectly documented as "P.S' 112 MiX" on the cue sheets), but it's not included on this album. The remaining PS cue numbers are more or less correct though the capitalization for "MIX" varies on the cue sheets.*

The score was recorded on December 17, 1970 (Pre-scoring) and on March 15, 1971. The reel containing the karaoke versions of the male chorus variations of "Return! The Sun" has no recording session date. This particular reel was labeled for overseas purposes.*

* Since the booklet contents on this album are rather barebones, my good friend Jordan Guichaux sent me booklet scans from the Godzilla 50th Anniversary Soundtrack Perfect Collection release of the score, containing the portions with the track-by-track commentary and cue sheet transcriptions, so I could provide some of the information above, including the recording session dates.
