Bonus tracks include unedited theme music material and train station announcements. Music composed by Masaru Sato. All music is in stereo except for tracks 30 - 34, which are in mono.

"August Without Emperor" is based on a novel by Kyuzo Kobayashi.
The Anokoro Film Soundtrack Series was released to coincide with Shochiku's Anokoro Film DVD/Blu-ray series. The brief soundtrack series consisted of five volumes released by Shochiku Music Publishing's in-house label, Shochiku Records. "Anokoro" translates to "at that time" or "of that time". The five albums in the series are:

"August Without Emperor (I)" and "August Without Emperor (II)" were recorded on July 28, 1978 at Arakawa City Minkaikan Large Hall. The remainder of the score was recorded on September 9, 1978 at Aoi Studio.
